ive always cook without recipes. (unless it’s very specific dish and taste, and even so, i dont follow the measurements very closely)
as i was cooking today, i had a realisation.
many people (me included) think about working with ancestors in complicated ways – specific processes, purpose and all.
today i realised i work with ancestors in the simplest way – like cooking without recipes.
some of us seem to have the muscle memory of those who came before us in terms of cooking. (both my paternal and maternal side love to cook (and eat))
since young, i can just go into the kitchen and whip up something. i cant say its michelin or gordon ramsay standard, but it’s definitely not awful at all.
i do know of people who are really bad with cooking. no matter how hard they try, even with recipes. and i think they probably acquired something else.
which lead me to think about how we acquire ‘skills’ and wisdom from our ancestors but dont think much into it.
if you would like to explore ancestral work, or has been struggling with it..
instead of trying to connect and work with them in specific ways and for specific purpose, perhaps first look at how it already has been happening.
